Land Stewardship

Regenerative Grazing & Soil Health

The Foundation directs BBRHI's ranch operations toward a rotational grazing system that increases grass recovery, improves soil carbon sequestration, and is projected to reduce feed costs by 20–35% compared to conventional continuous grazing. This program improves water retention in the region's limestone-underlain soils and supports the recovery of native grasses and wildlife habitat across the portfolio.

Wildlife Management

Exotic Game Stewardship & Wildlife Population Management

The Foundation administers BBRHI's wildlife breeding and population management programs, sustaining healthy, well-managed exotic and native wildlife populations across the ranch portfolio. Our wildlife biologist and breeding program staff track herd health, genetic diversity, and carrying capacity across each property, adjusting population targets to keep habitat, herd, and hunting-program goals in balance.

Flagship Initiative

Rhino Conservation Partnership Program

The Foundation's flagship initiative is a world-class living and breeding facility for endangered rhinoceros species to be developed on BBRHI's Texas ranch properties. Modeled on established Texas Hill Country rhino reserves, the program pairs spacious naturalistic rhino habitat, keeper-guided guest engagement, and a dedicated professional rhino care team with active partnerships with U.S. rhino conservation organizations and African and Indonesian wildlife authorities — with the long-term mission of repatriating viable, genetically healthy rhino populations to protected habitat in their countries of origin.

Wildlife Rescue

Bird Aviary Rescue & Rehabilitation

The Foundation is establishing a dedicated bird aviary rescue and rehabilitation program on BBRHI's Texas ranch properties, providing sanctuary for injured, displaced, and surrendered native and exotic bird species. The aviary program combines veterinary rehabilitation with long-term or permanent housing for birds unable to be released, and supports species education, breeding-population health monitoring, and public engagement.

Animal Rescue

General Animal Rescue Program

Alongside its wildlife and habitat programs, the Foundation operates a general animal rescue program serving companion and farm animals in need — including dogs, horses, cows, and other livestock. The program provides intake, veterinary care, rehabilitation, and re-homing or permanent sanctuary placement, leveraging BBRHI's ranchland, barns, and pasture infrastructure to house large animals alongside dedicated kennel and shelter facilities.

Field Protection & Anti-Poaching Support

Following the model established by leading African conservation organizations such as the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, the Foundation's African and Indonesian partnership funding supports partner-operated ranger salaries, canine anti-poaching units, and aerial or vehicle-based surveillance and rapid-response capability in the range states where BBRHI-supported animals or habitat are located.
